Grades 9-12
High school provides the opportunity to delve into topics more thoroughly but its design precludes interdisciplinary collaboration. Too often, teachers have to create opportunities to work together and provide their students with the chance to see how everything works together. Our scientific innovation cannot be divorced from our capitalist economic structure, for example, and math should not be siloed away from art.
As a classroom
community, our
capacity to generate excitement is deeply affected
by our interest in one another, in hearing one another’s voices,
in recognizing one another’s presence.
